A precision workshop is always at hand, allowing all interior work, cabinetry, etc. to be handled on the spot.

"Scott" is Scott MacInnis, owner of Urban Restorations, a contracting company on the shore of St. Margaret's Bay that marries state of the art technology and the old world charm of traditional Nova Scotia rural architecture.

Whether working from the ground up, or renovating an existing building, Scott brings a sweeping and uncommon originality to his designs, a deep knowledge and appreciation of traditional Nova Scotia architecture, and a comprehensive knowledge of modern heating systems, water supply, septics, etc. such that maximum efficiency and reliability are achieved with as little compromise to design and living space as possible. (For samples of his work, see Transformations)

Note, as an example of his work, the traditional appeal of this home in Indian Harbour, including the scattered posts around the deck, built by Scott from the ground up: one thinks, at fist glance, that this is yet another fish store like the others in the picturesque little cove in which it resides. But one does not see the glass rails, or the steel beams and anchored chains that make the whole structure safe, and secure against even the most savage of Atlantic storms.

Nor does one note, at first glance, the absence of power lines revealing that this home is totally self-contained, off the conventional power grid, and heatable with, as is sometimes said, "little more than a candle." This old home was brought back from derelict condition, including the replication of original trim and moldings, and now adds a traditional charm and grace to the landscape of Indian Harbour.

Again, using the most sophisticated of modern insulating materials and state of the art heating devices, this spacious dwelling provides a comfortable living space, with an intimate visual connection to the majesty of the ocean that crashes on the shore just outside its back doors.

Having grown up in a beautifullay crafted old Nova Scotia home (it took two years for one man to make and install all the trim), Scott has a deep appreciation for harry_o_chairtraditional style and quality. Such is the standard towards which he works, marrying today's most precise machinery with the craftsmanship that his crew is able to deliver.

There are many more examples of Scott's transformative skills. CLICK HERE to see them.
